Most of my life I have considered myself a huge fan and follower of classic rock and roll music until I found myself in the company of a pretty good professional guitar man and the legendary rock journalist, Steven Rosen. I soon learned that I knew almost nothing about rock and roll except for, maybe, the name of the song and, maybe, some of the lyrics. I decided to ask around to see if others felt the same about their knowledge of the individuals who brought us the music of our lives. Although many felt they knew pretty much everything about rock and roll based on the fact that we all actually lived it, few were able to give me the names of members of the band except for the obvious players who were in the spotlight like Jagger, Page, Clapton, etc. This new found information prompted me to think that maybe we would all like to get to know these great music makers a little more intimately! Being a lifetime entrepreneur the thought occurred that we should actually bring these guys center stage and give them their fair due! Hence we bring you Rock Godz Hall of Fame!
Steven Rosen’s career as a music journalist spans forty years and thousands of miles of dressing rooms, Holiday Inns, diners and private jets. His adventures read like the pages of a movie script, almost too incredible to be true as he found his way into the minds and hearts of virtually every icon of rock music, from Jimmy Page to Jeff Beck to Eddie Van Halen. Never an armchair observer, this traveling troubadour’s work has taken him down long and winding roads to distant vistas in search of mysterious stories and elusive sagas. Hand-selected to accompany dozens of major touring bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Alice Cooper, and many others, Steven is himself a part of the living legacy of Rock music itself.

Former Quiet Riot vocalist Shortino found musical ambition early in life, coming from a talented family and taking vocal lessons before his teens. Later came a series of bands on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip playing club gigs. It was on this scene that he first encountered Wendy and Ronnie Dio (of Dio), through whose auspices Shortino was engaged as vocalist for Rough Cutt. After that band sundered he joined Quiet Riot in 1989, but not before he had written songs for the television series Fame, and played the part of Duke Fame in This Is Spinal Tap. The early 90s saw Shortino recording with the Bad Boyz before electing to pursue a solo career, joining with guitarist Jeff Northrup. The first results of this collaboration arrived with the release of the agenda-setting Back On Track in March 1994. Shortino’s second studio album came five years later, in tandem with the Rhythm Junkies, and continued in the vein of familiarly tough blues/rock. His releases in the new millennium have included an album with a new line-up of Rough Cutt credited to Paul Shortino’s the Cutt, and a reunion with Northrup on 2004’s Afterlife.

I love Rock Godz. There is no place on the internet that gives me as much information or that reveals so much ACCURATE insight as Rock Godz. This is not just a fan site, this is the actual artists telling their stories. And the interviews by Mr. Rosen are amazing. I feel like I know these musicians as if they were my friends.Greg Ross, Rock Godz Member
