Rock ‘n roll was Buddy Maver’s life for many years. He has a unique perspective on Cleveland rock and roll history having seen it from both sides. from the creative side as a musician/singer, and from the business side working with agents, managers and record companies as a concert producer and club owner.
He spent years making records on four different labels including major record companies like Epic and Capital records. He had many amazing experiences which included opening to the Rolling Stones on their first Cleveland show in 1964 and playing on the pilot of the nationally syndicated Upbeat television show. In 1970 his band Charade had a hit, “And You Do” on Epic. In 1973 his band, Rainbow Canyon recorded an album for Capitol records at the famous Caribou Ranch recording studio in Colorado.
From the mid 70’s to the mid 80’s he was Hank LoConti’s partner and vice president at the Agora Ballroom, where he produced hundreds of legendary concerts Those shows included the first Cleveland appearances of dozens of acts who are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today. bands that were unknown acts putting out their first album. They included U2, Tom Petty, The Police, The Ramones, The Pretenders, AC/DC, The Cars and Elvis Costello and many more. He also brought in superstars like Bruce Springsteen Paul Simon and David Bowie into the 1,000 seat club. Later he moved to LA where h put on rock shows at the Country Club, the biggest rock club in Los Angles for several years.
