Inducted November 18, 2018, If drummer Russ Kunkel had done nothing more than open for Cream,
Traffic and the Byrds at the Whisky, it would have been enough. But that was only the beginning. He played on James Taylor’s first album Sweet Baby James and immediately was allowed entrée into the world of rock’s formidable elite including George Harrison and Bob Dylan. He became one-quarter of the Section, one of the most venerated group of studio players in the world, and went on to write, perform and record with luminaries such as Aaron Neville, Joe Cocker, Jimmy Buffett, and Jackson Brown. Further, the finesse and flair he brought to the drums put him in front of artists such as Joe Walsh, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Simon & Garfunkel, the Bee Gees, Steve Winwood and many others.
