Thomas “Tommy” Amato entered the professional music world in the 1970’s at the age of 15, honing his singing and musical abilities in the teen clubs and band basements of Cleveland, Ohio, the rock ‘n’ roll capital of America. His first break came in the mid-70s, when he landed opening act positions at the syndicated TV show, Teen Club Hullabaloo. He entered the scene in front of major recording artists and Cleveland’s top musical acts.
In the early-1980’s Tommy moved onto the stage of the famed Cleveland Agora, a hotspot with a reputation for showcasing the best bands in the nation. At that point, Amato got involved in recording music, honing his ability to become a recording artist, and polishing his live performance skills on The Agora stages and in the regional club scene. Amato then founded the Cleveland-famed rock band Beau Coup; the band quickly gained attention for their unique sound on the Cleveland music scene.
The rise of Amato’s success came in 1984 when the artist and his brother were spotlighted as lead singers on the band’s first hit single “Still In My Heart.” It became an instant radio hit, which launched his career in the eastern region of the U.S., and later, won him a major-label recording contract in Los Angeles, California.
Beau Coup, led by the legendary Amato, took the music industry by storm with hits such as “Born and Raised on Rock ‘n’ Roll” which became a Cleveland Rock City Anthem. Their subsequent singles and albums, released under renowned record labels such as Scotti Brothers CBS Records and Amherst Records, enjoyed national success, with songs like “Sweet Rachel” making the Billboard Hot 100 and “Somewhere out in the Night” topping major playlists across the country.
Moreover, Amato’s songwriting talents were recognized through the hit track “Never Stop Loving You.” His most recent work, the song “Faith,” was featured in the acclaimed film Brothers Keeper available on Netflix.
The band continues to tour and their music is accessible globally across all streaming platforms and digital jukeboxes, with their Amherst album still enjoying wide promotion. With a fanbase spanning the globe, Beau Coup and Amato’s music legacy remains strong. Amato continues to inspire with his unwavering passion for music – as a singer, songwriter, and producer.
